In 2017, project CRYSTAL has involved approximately 300 students from elementary schools in Costa Mesa, Placentia Yorba Linda, and Santa Ana through a close collaboration with classroom teachers and district science specialists.

A teacher learning community was formed to provide feedback on the curriculum design, test lessons, and collect data on youth science learning and identity.  Teachers worked side by side with UCI researchers throughout the year and hosted parent night events at their school sites.
