I am Associate Professor of Economics at the University of California, Irvine and Interim Director of the Institute for Mathematical Behavioral Sciences.

My research focusses on the role of identity in economics.

I am an Associate of the Network for Economic Research on Identity, Norms and Narratives (ERINN) and a Faculty Fellow of the Association for Analytic Learning about Islam & Muslim Societies (AALIMS).

Prior to moving to UC Irvine, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Economics at the University of Oxford. I was awarded a Robert Solow Fellowship by the Cournot Centre for Economic Studies, Paris in 2009 and a John Monash Scholarship for Australian scholars in 2004.

I hold degrees from the University of Oxford (D.Phil., M.Phil.) and the University of Western Australia (PhD, BEc Hons).
