Dr. Kirk R. Williams joined the Department of Criminology, Law and Society in the School of Social Ecology at UC-Irvine June 30, 2016. He retired from UCI June 30, 2022. He previously was the Chair of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. He has published widely on the determinants of homicide rate variation and the causes and prevention of youth violence and intimate partner violence. He has received numerous grants from federal and state funding sources, in addition to private foundations to support his research. He also has worked extensively with community-based groups, schools, and agencies in violence prevention planning, implementation, and evaluation.
