Randomized Controlled Trial of Thyroid Hormone Supplementation in Hemodialysis Patients
Biostatistics. Across scientific disciplines, massive amounts of data are being generated more rapidly and more easily with new measurement technologies. The real challenge is to design effective data collection strategies and to turn data into knowledge. Biostatistics is the scientific discipline that develops novel methods and rigorously applies these methods to address research questions in biology, medicine, and public health.
Collaboration: We welcome collaboration on research projects and grant proposals to further basic knowledge and to rigorously assess novel clinical and translational approaches with the overall goal of advancing human health.

Novel Biostatistics Methodology Development. One of our primary research goal is to develop effective methods for analyzing complex data, including high-dimensional big data, ranging from “-omics” (e.g., genomics, metabolomics etc.) to streaming data and to large population databases. Methodology innovations in our lab include dimension reduction methods for prediction, modeling time-varying effects for ultra-sparse data, time-dynamic profiling of health care providers, and novel self-controlled case series methods for detecting time periods of increased outcome (e.g., cardiovascular) risk in the dialysis population.
