July 12-16, 2016: Dr. Sun and Sarah traveled to Orlando, FL for the 2016 Genetics Society of America’s Allied Genetics Conference. Sarah presented a talk and poster on her research. See photos tab.

7/11/16: The Sun Lab participated in AAUW’s 2016 TechTrek.

June 20-24, 2016: Heather and Sarah traveled to Houston, TX for the 2016 ABLE (Association for Biology Laboratory Education) Conference. They each presented workshops related to teaching science.

June, 2016: Woodbridge High School student Michael & undergraduate Najla join the lab.

May, 2016: Ben presented his research with a poster at the UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium.

4/15/16: Dr. Sun, Sarah, Ben, Kathy, and Micaela participated in the “Math CEO” outreach program with the Department of Mathematics at UCI. We extracted DNA from fruit (strawberries, kiwis, bananas)! See photos tab.

March, 2016: Heather, once again, won the year’s CCBS Opportunity Award! She will work with the Wunderlich and Shilling Labs at UCI to study “Dynamics of lncRNAs in the X inactivation center in mouse ES and human breast cancer cells”

March, 2016: Heather presented her research as a talk at the CCBS (Center for Complex Biological Systems) Retreat in Los Angeles.
