Edwin was a doctoral student in the developmental psychology program working with Drs. Wendy A. Goldberg and Roxane C. Silver.
Broadly speaking, he is interested in issues of children’s education, father involvement, cultural differences and the work-family interface. He has examined the unique contribution of fathers’ involvement in children’s educational success, as well as issues pertaining to antecedents and barriers to fathers’ involvement in their children’s lives.
Edwin completed his dissertation in 2010, which focused on understanding the unique situation of immigrant Asian fathers’ involvement. Specifically, how their work-family situation ( e.g. job characteristics, work-family conflict/facilitation) influenced their level and style of involvement with their children’s education.
He is currently a Jacquelin Goldman Congressional Fellow working in Washington D.C. as a part of Congressman Honda’s (D-CA) office.
