Victoria Pellerito

Ph.D. Student

Research

As a fourth year Ph.D. student in ASL, Victoria develops physics-based models and simulations of Advanced Air Mobility vehicles. Her work is applied to noise modeling and air traffic management development for Urban Air Mobility.

Bio

Victoria is originally from Detroit, MI. She graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2020. In her free time, Victoria plays beach volleyball and enjoys road trips, hiking, and paddleboarding.

Khaled Alsamri

Ph.D. Student

Research

Khaled, a 3rd-year PhD student in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), is dedicated to advancing zero-emissions aviation. His primary research area is the powertrain of aircraft with an emphasis on minimizing flight emissions.

Bio

Originally from the Emirates, Khaled earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Tech in 2020. He then pursued a Master’s in Energy Systems at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in 2021. Outside of his academic pursuits, Khaled is passionate about playing soccer and enjoys video gaming.

Vanessa Chung

Masters Student

Research

Vanessa is a first-year M.S. student studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Her current research topics include systems and design for hydrogen fuel cell powered aircraft and acoustic analysis for multi-rotors interactions.

Bio

Vanessa is from the Bay Area, CA. She graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering in 2022. She worked at Abbott for a year before starting her graduate studies. In her free time, Vanessa enjoys playing badminton, volleyball, basketball, and a movie marathon.

Trinity Lee

Ph.D. Student

Research

Trinity is a 2nd-year Ph.D. Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) student implementing empirical noise data to create validated and improved noise models and operation flight procedures.

Bio

Trinity Lee is originally from Knoxville, TN. She graduated summa cum laude from King University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics in 2022. She enjoys watching movies and going to the dog beach with her dog, Oakland.

Mallory Mott

Ph.D. Student

Research

Mallory is a first year Ph.D. student  in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Her research interests include fluid-structure integrations and design optimization focusing on sustainable aviation applications. Her work is applied to noise modeling efforts through analysis and optimization of aircraft systems.

Bio

Mallory is from Pensacola, Florida and earned her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University in 2023. Beyond her academics, she enjoys hobby rocketry, surfing, hiking, and volunteering.

Samuel Murillo

Masters Student

Research

Sam is a 2nd year M.S. student with experience and knowledge in fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and aviation systems. His current research involves developing aviation systems that can be applied to navigation through and/or management of natural disaster conditions.

Bio

Sam is originally from Southern California, namely the Inland Empire (San Bernardino area). He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a Minor in Music Industry. He currently works at Howmet Aerospace as a Maintenance Engineer and is a proud member of SHPE. In his free time, he practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, writes music, and enjoys sports and traveling.

Alison J. Martinez

Undergraduate Student

Research

As a 2nd-year Aerospace Engineering student and UC LEADS scholar, Alison works on developing scaling methods and models between aerodynamic, acoustic, and performance characteristics of multi-propeller vehicles.

Bio

Alison Martinez is originally from Mexico. In 2022, she graduated from Norco College with 8 Associate Degrees across various areas including Pre-Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and more. Alison actively contributes to UCI’s Cargo Plane Senior Design Team, where her primary focus lies within the Propulsion and Avionics subteam.

Naomi Acosta

As a third-year undergraduate Aerospace Engineering student, Naomi’s current research involves noise and engine modeling.

Naomi Acosta is originally from Riverside, CA. They received their Associate’s Degree in Math and Science from Moreno Valley College in 2021. In their free time, Naomi likes to read, write, and play video games.
