Faculty Websites now using HTTPS

As of September 12, 2018, Faculty Websites is now enforcing HTTPS on all of our websites. You may notice https in front of your URL (web address) and a lock icon. We’ve added SSL certificates for the main domain (faculty.sites.uci.edu) and the custom domains we host.

Some Benefits of HTTPS

  1. Increased Google Rankings. Google ranking algorithm favors HTTPS sites.
  2. Improved Security. HTTPs encryption adds a layer of protection ensuring no one in the middle can tamper with the traffic or spy on what you are doing.
  3. Updated Browser Labels – You should now see a lock next to your URL instead of a “Not Secure” label.
