Community Participatory Air Monitoring
The Community & Environment Research Lab using the monitors on this page to do various monitoring activities with community groups in the Los Angeles area. One such activity has been “A Day in the Life.” For more info about “A Day in the Life” and resources associated with the program, click here.
AirBeam: The airbeam is a low cost mobile air monitor that measures PM 2.5. The device connects to the AirCasting Android app which displays the information on a map in real time. All crowdsourced data can be found at aircasting.org/map

Purple Air: The Purple Air is a low cost stationary air monitor measuring PM 2.5. The device broadcasts data from crowdsourced montitors around the world in real time on a map found here.

EJ COUNTS Truck Counting Network
Communities Organizing to Understand Neighborhood Traffic
- Neighborhood traffic impacts local air quality and health. The EJ COUNTS network is a community-led projects that aims to collect information on traffic near homes, schools and parks to better understand and identify traffic patterns in residential areas.

SC-AQMD
(South Coast Air Quality Management District) The local agency responsible for air quality. The site includes data on air pollution and programs in Southern California.
SC-AQMD MATES IV
(Mulitple Air Toxics Exposure Study) Report on air toxics in Southern California, including an interactive map of cancer risk.
WHO
(World Health Organization) has information on indoor and outdoor air pollution, and global air quality guidelines.
