MY SOCIAL LIFE (MSOL) STUDY
OVERVIEW
WHAT IS THIS STUDY ABOUT?
The MSoL study is looking to understand people’s everyday social lives– their personalities, their relationships, and the good and bad events everyone goes through.
INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING?
The entire study take place virtually over the course of a month and take about 4.5 hours. Please see more information below:
You will participate by yourself in ONE session of online questionnaires and daily questionnaires
This option consists of Parts 1 and 2 of the study below. The total study time is approximately 4.5 hours.
You will answer a few questions to help us make sure you are eligible to participate. At the end of the short screening questionnaire, you will know if you are eligible. If you are, you will be ready to start your study participation!

The 2 Parts of MSoL:Part 1: First Virtual Session
In the first part of the study, before your first virtual session, you will be asked to complete a 30-minute questionnaire. This questionnaire needs to be completed prior to the session to ensure your safe participation. Then, you will meet with one of our research assistants through Zoom to complete a 1.5 – 2 hour questionnaire session. During this time, you will first provide informed consent (if you agree to participate in the study) and then answer questions about your background, personality, relationships, emotions, and health.
Part 2: 5-minute Check-Ins
For 30 days, you will complete 5-minute check-ins at the end of the day before you go to sleep.
Compensation:
Below is a breakdown of the compensation you can receive for completing both parts of the study.

You have the opportunity to earn between $65 – $75 for the study!

Ready to Begin?
If you would like to participate, please submit the MSoL Interest form so we can send you the screening questionnaire. This questionnaire will ask you some questions about yourself to make sure you are eligible to participate. If you are eligible, you will be contacted by our study managers to schedule a time for your virtual UCI session. You will need to complete the pre-questionnaire before your scheduled session.

How will I receive compensation?You will be compensated after completing each part of the MSoL study. You can choose cash or check.
Does participation have to be in order?Yes! You must do the first part of the study before you can go on to the second part.

Daily Check-Ins
How will I do the daily check-ins?
We will send you a link to access the check-in online (either on your computer or on your smartphone). We will also send you daily reminders. If you do not have reliable internet access, we can provide you with a paper version.
What if I forget to complete a check-in?We will be sending you reminders every day, but if you do forget, it’s okay. Just make sure to complete the next day’s check-in. Remember that you get a bonus if you complete all check-ins!
