REACH (Resilience, Epidemiology and Community Health) Lab

Welcome to the REACH (Resilience, Epidemiology and Community Health) Lab based at the University of California, Irvine!

Broadly, our team, led by Dr. Dana Rose Garfin, explores : 1) how negative life events and community disasters impact individuals and communities across the lifespan, and 2) how community-based interventions might alleviate the harmful effects of such exposure.

We use a multimethodological approach to examining these issues, which includes longitudinal, epidemiological surveys; qualitative focus groups; community-based clinical trials; and field experiments. We integrate biological, psychological and cognitive metrics to understand how people respond and adapt to adversity.
