I am a proud product of the University of California system, with my BA from Cal and my PhD from UCLA. After working as an Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, followed by a hiatus in my academic career, I am now back home in the UC system and thrilled to be a faculty member in the Department of Psychological Science at UC Irvine.
I am an affective neuroscientist studying self-regulation in adults. My research focuses on emotion-regulation and impulse control in addiction, phobia, and non-clinical contexts. I have also studied emotions and self-regulation in social decision-making and personal choice. Ultimately, I am interested in using insights from neuroscience to explore novel cognitive or behavioral strategies for improving mental health and wellness.
