Si Dr. Kim ay isang Assistang Professor sa Residence sa Department of Medicine at isang Joint Affiliated Assistant Professors sa Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention at the University of California, Irvine. Si Dr. Kim ay nakatanggap ng Ph.D sa clinical psychology sa University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Matapos makumpleto ang kanyang Ph.D., siya ay isang NIH / NIMH T32 postdoctoral fellow sa UCLA sa health psychology,kung saan sinuri niya ang mga pagkakaiba sa pag-cope at pisikal, sikolohikal na sintomas sa survivorship ng kanser.
