Choroid Plexus Repository

Human Choroid Plexus Repository

Several years ago, we began collecting human postmortem ChP – intact fresh and fixed tissue, paraffin-embedded blocks, and frozen samples – from two sources: the UCI Medical Center (UCIMC) autopsy service and Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC). Paraffin-embedded ChP blocks from the “atrium” of the lateral ventricle (LV) – i.e. where the frontal, occipital, and temporal horns of the LV meet – have been collected for nearly all cases. Paraffin blocks of 4th ventricle (4V) ChP are also available from ~90 consecutive ADRC cases, and ChP samples from different ventricular locations are now being routinely collected from both services. As of March 2020, the ChP repository had samples from 142 unique subjects.
