UCI NEUROREHABILITATION LABORATORY’S COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Active community based involvment is a key component of our research plans. We strive for our translational studies to benefit the community and those most affected. The UCI Neurorehabilitation Laboratory has partnered with community based organizations such as the Orange County Stroke Research Network as well as university researchers from UCI’s Insititute for Clinical & Translational Science, UC Irvine Brain Repair Center, and Chapman University’s Department of Physical Therapy to achieve this goal.
Annual Orange County Stroke Awareness Picnic
OCSRN’s annual stroke awareness picnic provides the opportunity for those affected by stroke, including survivors, caregivers, and loved ones, to meet each other and to obtain information regarding stroke – related resources. A number of stroke survivors and their caregivers gave inspiring speeches describing how stroke has impacted their lives, and giving insight into their road to medical and personal recovery.
Stroke Education Workshops
Co-sponsored with the UC Irvine Brain Repair Center and Chapman University’s Department of Physical Therapy, annual education workshops for therapists, nurses, researchers, and other rehabilitation professionals allow the community to get information on the latest research developments in neurorehabilitation.
