Lab History & Vision
- Foundation at Einstein: Dr. Ali Ezzati earned his M.D. from Shahid Beheshti University (Tehran) and completed post-doctoral fellowships in clinical informatics and neuroepidemiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then served as Assistant Professor of Neurology at Montefiore–Einstein, where he pioneered data-driven predictive models for Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.
- Transition to UCI: In 2023, Dr. Ezzati joined the University of California, Irvine, as Associate Professor of Neurology and Director of the Neuroinformatics Program. At UCI he’s building upon his Einstein work with the goal of creating a world-class center for machine-learning applications in cognitive aging and dementia research.
- Our Goals: To develop and deploy cost-effective, high-performance predictive tools (ML4AD, R-CARE) that integrate clinical, imaging, genetic, and digital-health data—and to translate those tools directly into smarter trials, earlier diagnoses, and more tailored prevention strategies.
Our Multidisciplinary Team
- Clinical Neurology: Board-certified neurologists and fellows specializing in Alzheimer’s, dementia, and headache disorders.
- Epidemiology & Biostatistics: Experts in study design, large-cohort analysis, and rigorous causal inference.
- Data Science & AI: Machine-learning engineers, software developers, and computational neuroscientists with deep expertise in neuroimaging, “omics,” and digital biomarker platforms.
Together, we blend bedside insight with cutting-edge analytics to tackle the biggest challenges in brain health.
