Yunyao Graduates

Yunyao gave a brilliant talk at  her thesis defense on 22nd May, 2019. She will be moving to the east coast, at CSHL, to pursue her postdoc. Congrats Dr. Yunyao Xie and Good Luck!

Charlesice passed her advancement and became a Ph.D. candidate. Congratulations!

 

We had a holiday party before the break! Thank you all for your hard work! We had a very productive 2018.

November, 2018

Olga and Karla got exciting results in the pilot experiment using the multi-electrode array. They found synchronous burst network activity in our iPSC-derived neuronal cultures. (Courtesy to Axion Biosystems)

Yunyao presented a poster entitled “A CRISPR/Cas9-generated isogenic iPSC model reveals a neuronal subtype-specific mechanism of SCN1A epilepsy” at the Annual Meeting of Society for Neuroscience, San Diego, CA.

July, 2018

Carmen presented her work entitled “Using CRISPR/Cas9 to model SCN1A epilepsy in human iPSCs” as a CIRM trainee at the Bridges Annual Meeting, San Diego, CA.

Summer 2018

June: Good Luck to Nathan. He starts medical school at Stanford in the fall.

June: George, Lisha and Theresa receive 2018 SURP fellowships. Lisha also got 2018 UROP fellowship. Congrats Undergrads!!!

June:  Our lab receives Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC) seed grant to fund “Drug screening on neurons with epilepsy-related SCN1A mutations by monitoring large-scale network activity with multi-electrode arrays.”


June: Yunyao ( pic- above) wins Fine Science Tools Graduate Travel Award. Congrats!

July: Alexa publishes a paper in Bio protocol. Congrats!

July: Karla joins the lab as CIRM Trainee. Welcome 🙂
