We welcome Huda Barhoosh (Pharmaceutical Sciences), Jessica Su (Pharmaceutical Sciences), and Jeffrey Lam (Biomedical Engineering) to the lab. Zot, zot, zot!
Alex publishes revised conditions for DESPS
In pursuit of conditions for efficient esterification, Alex discovered generalized acylation conditions that preserve significantly higher amounts of DNA during solid-phase synthesis. These conditions make it possible to synthesize high-cycle libraries, such as those involving macrocyclic peptide natural products. Congrats, Alex!
Brian and Vuong publish DNA-Compatible Cycloisomerization Chemistry w/ Shenvi Lab and Pfizer
Working w/ Prof. Ryan Shenvi @ Scripps Research and the Pfizer DEL team, we showed that newly developed hydrogen-atom transfer chemistry is compatible with the dilute aqueous conditions of DEL synthesis and does not appreciably damage DNA.
Amber publishes off-DNA DEL screening
Off-target binding to DNA got you down? Then see Amber Hackler’s latest publication describing fluorescence polarization-based droplet sorting for detecting macromolecular target binding free of the DNA-encoding tag! Congratulations, Amber!
pL moves to UC Irvine
Go west!
The Paegel Lab has recently relocated to the University of California, Irvine after many fruitful years at Scripps Research in Jupiter, FL. The laboratory, part of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Health Sciences, develops next-generation technology for drug discovery to eliminate the concept of druggability.
