Oxford Studies in Philosophy of Science
This series was established in 2000 to publish monographs in the philosophy of science, broadly construed, that combine the highest scholarly distinction with attention to philosophical questions and topics of widespread interest. The first book in the series,The Book of Evidence by Peter Achinstein, was published in 2001 and since then four books in the series have won the Lakatos Award and one the Fernando Gil Prize. All books in the series undergo a rigorous refereeing process and no philosophical school or approach is favored. The published volumes have included sociologically and historically oriented work in addition to foundational philosophy of science and cover the spectrum from philosophy of mathematics and the natural sciences through the philosophy of social sciences. Past members of the Editorial Board include Anouk Barberousse, Robert Batterman, Peter Galison, Ian Hacking, Philip Kitcher, Richard Miller, and Margaret Morrison. Paul Humphreys was appointed as its first editor in 2000 and in 2019 P. Kyle Stanford became the series’ second editor.
