Astronomical Diagrams
From 2008 to 2010, Professor Raphael was associated with the AHRC-funded project, “Diagrams, Images, and the Transformation of Astronomy, 1450-1650,” based in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge. One outcome of the project was the creation of an online bank of astronomical images with scholarly annotations, now housed at Cambridge University’s Digital Library. Her contributions included the design of the original database and content-management system for the online image bank and participation in collaborative translation sessions of chapter 6 of Tycho Brahe’s 1588 De mundi aetherei recentioribus phaenomenis.
