The lab attended the Alzheimer Association’s 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Irvine Walk on October 1st.

Dr. Sajjadi gave the talk “Introducing LATE: An important underpinning of dementia in later life” at the 33rd Annual Southern California Alzheimer’s Disease Research Conference on September 9th.

August 2022: The lab was awarded an R21 grant to study the use of post-mortem MRI in the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s mimics such as hippocampal sclerosis and small vessel lesions in the oldest-old.

Members of our lab (Dr. S. Ahmad Sajjadi, Dr. Davis Woodworth, and Dr. Giovanna Bubbico) presented 3 oral and 5 poster presentations at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2022, which took place from July 31st to August 4th. Dr. Sajjadi and Dr. Woodworth also chaired one session each.

May 2022: Hannah was awarded grants from the UCI Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) Research and Mentorship Program (RAMP) and the National Institute on Aging (NIA) T35 Summer Medical student Aging and Alzheimer disease Research Training (SMAART) Program.

April 4, 2022: Dr. Sajjadi was invited onto the NPR show “AirTalk” with Larry Mantle to speak on cognitive disorders in association with media response to film star Bruce Willis’ aphasia diagnosis.

March 2022: Dementia is associated with medial temporal atrophy even after accounting for neuropathologies was featured in the March 2022 publication (Volume 4, Issue 2) of Brain Communications

  Katelynn graduated from UCLA with a dual degree in Ethnomusicology (B.A.) and Psychobiology (B.S.) in June 2021. She will be working in the Sajjadi Lab as a Junior Specialist and hopes to apply to medical school in the near future.

  Janice graduated from UCI with a double major in Psychology (B.A.) and Human Biology (B.S.) in June 2021. She will be starting her role as a Junior Specialist in the lab after graduation.
• 
  Kiana will be attending Northwestern University to obtain her Masters in Clinical Psychology.
• 
  Hannah will be starting her first year as a medical student at UCI.
