Screening to Overcome and Prevent (STOP) Colorectal Cancer Screening among Chinese and Korean Americans – Pilot Study

Project Summary: Serving as the pilot study to our ongoing STOP CRC project, this project seeks to understand colorectal cancer screening behaviors among Chinese- and Korean- Americans, especially as colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer-related cause of death amongst Asian Americans.

Lay Health Worker Model
to Reduce Liver Cancer Disparities

Project Summary: This project utilized a community-based participatory approach to help build a sustainable, liver cancer prevention program conducted by lay health workers (LHWs) to promote HBV screening and vaccinations.

Project Summary: This 4-year project evaluated existing liver cancer prevention and HBV educational materials to develop non-traditional and culturally integrated educational materials for Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese populations in Maryland.

Strengths, Needs, and Opportunities for Action

Project Summary: A health needs assessment across 13 Asian American communities (Asian Indian, Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Nepali, Pakistani, Taiwanese, Thai, and Vietnamese) in Montgomery County, Maryland to identify the most pressing health needs, barriers to health care access, and recommendations for action.
