I welcome inquiries from prospective PhD students who can demonstrate a commitment to working on political economy, political theory, racial capitalism, radical geography, or transformative movements (social, labor, or electoral). I am particularly excited about working with students interested in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, but I welcome people working on any part of the world. Concrete experience with any form of praxis is also a plus, but not required. I enjoy working with students who are voracious readers, intellectually curious, enthusiastic, self-driven, and responsive to feedback. I also appreciate it when students manage to articulate strong political commitments while remaining open-minded about studying and learning from authors with whom they might otherwise disagree.
