This program was created thanks to the collaborative efforts of  the UCI School of Education research team and faculty, UCI Center for Environmental Biology team, the Crystal Cove Conservancy, the Santa Ana School District, Davis Magnet School in Costa Mesa, and the Placentia Unified School District. The Conservancy is the official non-profit partner of Crystal Cove State Park.

In addition,  Associate Professor Santagata and Professor Huxman are involved in UCI Oceans and UCI Sustainability, which are separate but complementary initiatives promoting interdisciplinary research on the environment.

This program would not have been possible without the generous contributions from various organizations. The UCI Newkirk Center for Science and Society funded pilot work for this project. The Nicholas Endowment is providing funding to support the costs of the fieldtrips, classroom lessons, and project evaluation. In addition, the Conservancy and UCI contribute staff and resources to the project.
