The Research for Equitable Mobility Infrastructure Across Disciplines (REMIX) group is part of the Infrastructure Equity cluster of the UCI Black Thriving Initiative, the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Irvine, and the university’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

REMIX is a reimagining of what it means to be an engineer! We used community-based participatory action research, mixed methods, and interdisciplinary collaborations to advance equity and justice in the field of transportation.

Key Research Areas

Mobility Justice for Communities of Color

We advance research methodologies to repair past harms and advance mobility justice in Black communities and other communities of color.

Community-based Solutions for Disaster Preparedness

We work with front line communities to co-design solutions for improved access to sustainable transportation, green space, renewable energy, and other essential resources for addressing the climate crisis.

Physical & Mental Healthcare Access

We develop innovative solutions for improving accessing to healthcare and embedding principles of well-being and collective care into our transportation designs.
