Jung-Hsien Lin is Assistant Director of Global Cultures and Digital Projects in the Global Languages & Cultures Program at the University of California, Irvine, where she also directs the Intercultural Communication (ICC/VR) Lab. Her teaching and research examine how digital cultures, virtual reality, and generative AI transform practices of reading, writing, and languaging across multilingual contexts. She has published on multilingual literacy, writing pedagogy, AI-mediated communication, and the role of virtual platforms in fostering intercultural connection. Her current projects include IRB-approved research on bilingual student reading and writing practices with generative AI , cross-institutional collaborations on English-Medium Instruction and VR pedagogy, and forthcoming chapters on linguistic landscapes, digital humanities, and the politics of AI in writing instruction. Through her work, she seeks to advance equity-driven, multimodal, and community-oriented approaches to language and literacy education.

I am a senior undergraduate majoring in Software Engineering with a strong interest in how AR/VR can be leveraged for education, often in combination with AI. I have been developing VR simulations since February through an internship with UCI’s Enrollment Management office and am currently an intern at SimInsights, creators of Hyperskill. At the VR Lab, I look forward to contributing to the Humanities Digital Twin project and supporting others in exploring AR/VR tools.
