At IMAGINE we develop new, intelligent medical imaging and image analysis techniques. We are primarily interested in enhancing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with artificial intelligence. We are broadly interested in brain and body imaging applications. One of our primary areas of focus and contribution has been fetal brain MRI, which is considered neuroimaging with body MRI equipment and challenges. This is a particularly challenging application of MRI because of uncontrollable fetal and maternal movements that are unpredictable and can be large and fast. Through the development of technology in this domain, we have developed tools and resources for in-vivo analysis of normal and abnormal brain development before and early after birth, when the brain undergoes its most rapid formative growth. We are interested in understanding the structure and function of the early developing brain, intelligence, and learning, especially when neurodevelopment may be altered by congenital anomalies or adverse perinatal conditions.
