Describing Asian American Well-being and Needs in cancer – Cultural Adaptation Preparation (DAWN-CAP) Study

UCI IRB HS #1731

Project Background: The DAWN-CAP (Describing Asian American Well-being & Needs in cancer – Cultural Adaptation Preparation) Study stems from our previous DAWN Study.

Project Aims: This project aims to culturally adapt an evidence-based psychotherapeutic intervention for Mandarin-speaking and Vietnamese-speaking Americans with metastatic solid cancer (cancer that has spread from where it first started to a distant part of the body, often Stage 4). We seek to hear the perspectives of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on how to modify and prepare an evidence-based psychotherapeutic intervention to enhance the quality of life of patients with metastatic solid cancer.

Study Design: We will conduct interviews with Mandarin-speaking and Vietnamese-speaking patients and their caregivers, and healthcare professionals, with questions about cultural considerations for intervention content, delivery, and future implementation. After intervention prototype modifications, patients and caregivers will be interviewed again for feedback.

Project Funding: This study is funded by the National Institutes of Health-National Cancer Institute (R00CA246058).

This study is actively enrolling patient or caregiver participants. If you or someone you know may be interested in participating, please see below for more information and reach out to us with any questions.
