Single-Cell RNA Sequencing Reveals the Diversity of the Immunological Landscape Following Central Nervous System Infection by a Murine Coronavirus – J Virology, 2020
Susceptible C57BL/6 mice were intracranial (i.c.) infected with the neurotropic JHM strain of mouse hepatitis virus (JHMV) (a member of the Coronaviridae family) that results in acute encephalomyelitis and viral persistence associated with an immune-mediated demyelinating disease. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) was conducted on brains of uninfected mice and at days 3 and 7 post-infection (p.i.), as well as from spinal cords at day 21 p.i.

Microglia influence host defense, disease, and repair following murine coronavirus infection of the central nervous system – GLIA, 2020
C57BL/6 mice were fed either the microglia depleting drug, PLX5622, or control chow, for 7 days prior to intracranial (i.c.) infection with the neurotropic JHM strain of mouse hepatitis virus (JHMV) that results in acute encephalomyelitis and viral persistence associated with immune-mediated demyelination. ScRNAseq was conducted on brains of PLX5622- and Control-treated mice at day 7 p.i., and again in spinal cords at day 14 p.i.
