About Our Study

Dementia Family Caregiver Support Study:

Our program aims to build caregiving and stress-management skills in family caregivers of persons with dementia. This study will test a 3-month, community health education specialist delivered home visit, culturally and language-appropriate intervention for Latino, Vietnamese, Korean, and Non-Hispanic White dementia family caregivers of a person with dementia using wearable technology for real time monitoring of caregivers’ physiological measures. The community health education specialist delivers home visit intervention including stress reduction techniques by mindful breathing, compassionate support/listening and caregiving education to improve caregiver’s health, wellbeing, and positive interactions with the person with dementia. This dementia caregiver study using wearable technology has the potential to significantly lessen health disparities in dementia care, assisting underserved ethnic dementia caregivers in self-management and increasing their quality of life.  https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04894006
