About

Hi, I’m Collin (the left one)! I’m 6’1 and tons of fun. I’m every man’s dream and every prosecutor’s worst nightmare (in case you haven’t heard 🤭). I majored in microbiology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and graduated with a B.S. in 2018. In 2016, I began work in Dr. James Nieh’s lab at UCSD researching honeybee health and behavior. Following my graduation, I spent just over a year in the lab of Dr. Marygorret Obonyo at UCSD investigating the immunopathology of the gastric cancer-causing bacteria, Helicobacter pylori. Finally, in my second gap year, I worked for a small biotech in San Diego before recruitment into UCI’s CMB program in 2020.

Here at UCI, I was fortunate to find Dr. Lane’s lab where I’m investigating the role of microglia-derived insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) in the context of a viral model of neuroinflammation.

My hobbies include gaming, eating, being tall, respecting women, and caring for my bunny, Barbie. Other critical info: ESFJ, Pisces, year of the rat, blood type A+, lover of biceps, middle child, vaccinated.
