Our missions and values, like our science, are an active work in progress.
We are committed to the following two goals:
- Do good science: For us, good science is answering important and challenging questions honestly, objectively, and creatively. Our motivation is twofold. First, good science helps or has the potential to help, others and society as a whole. Secondly, we do science for its own sake. As Aristotle argued, a life of study and contemplation, done well, can be the happiest.
- Train good scientists: Learning to think scientifically often takes a lot of time and effort. We are committed to developing a training environment that supports the growth and success of scientists and budding scientists at all levels.
