About Me
Research Interests
Fun!
I received my B.S. and M.A. (both in Psychology) from the University of Washington and Pepperdine University respectively. For a period of time, I was also a post-baccalaureate student here at UC Irvine, during which I worked in the Vascular Senescence and Cognition Lab with Dr. Daniel Nation (now at USC). Here at the Yassa Lab, my main role is coordinating our study visits and managing our research assistants. My eventual goal is to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Neuropsychology.
I enjoy working with older adults and am primarily interested in the intersection between neuropsychological assessments and biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease. Furthermore, I am interested in how lifestyle factors can influence cognitive decline in old age, and I have previously examined the association between social networks and dementia. Aside from these topics, I also have a personal interest in the impact of music on neural oscillations and memory.
In my downtime, I take pleasure in digital illustration and reading. From literary “classics” to online webnovels, I read anything so long as the story engages me. I love listening to music and am partial to Japanese rock. I also enjoy spending time with my cat Sesame, who is very long-limbed (pictured below).
What the lab means to me…
“To me, the lab is a warm environment where I can help contribute to important research along with some very bright people. The lab is so kind and inspiring, and everyone raises each other up. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of such a lab.”
