About Me
Projects
Fun!
I graduated with a M.S in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. I worked for a year as a research assistant in Dr. Luis Pessoa’s lab at Brown University in Rhode Island, which paved the way for my interest in neuroimaging. Then I moved to Austin where I began working at the newly built Imaging Research center at the University of Texas at Austin, helping with day to day activities in the center. While working at UT Austin, I graduated with my second masters degree in Statistics. In 2018, I joined the Yassa lab, where I am in charge of the lab imaging database, Flywheel. My main work has been on analyzing Structural imaging data for various projects. One of my main projects is to find neuroimaging biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease using structural imaging data in subjects with Downs Syndrome as a part of the Alzheimer’s Biomarkers Consortium – Down Syndrome study.

Lab Research Projects

I contribute to the following research areas in the Translational Neuroscience Laboratory.

Individual Research Projects

  • Early Life Adversity (Conte Imaging)
I have a 5-year-old and my type of fun includes taking him on different hikes and National Parks around California. We love to discover new places like the Calico and Pioneertown ghost towns and show him the history!

What the lab means to me…

“The most important thing for me regarding this lab is “approach-ability.” I have never felt uncomfortable bringing up any issues and Dr. Yassa always finds a solution that works for us, even if it is not advantageous to him. Not many students and staff from other labs can claim this. He is very understanding of his grad students and staff.”
