Welcome

Welcome to the X Energy Lab at UC Irvine. We are interested in multi-phase, chemically reacting flows – especially those at previously unexplored scales and conditions, and study them to enable future power, propulsion, and energy system technologies. We utilize both experimental and numerical techniques, ranging from lab-scale tests and diagnostics to computational fluid mechanics and molecular dynamics.

Our current research interests include:
Gas: high-speed combustion, detonation, multi-phase combustion
Gas-particle: nanoparticle synthesis, nanocarbon, soot formation
Gas-surface: surface oxidation/corrosion kinetics, high-temperature materials
