David Dinh, Ph.D. (he/him/his)
Title: Postdoctoral Scholar
Email: dmdinh [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a recent graduate from the University of Oklahoma who prefers the more temperate weather of SoCal. My previous research was on characterizing proteins involved in carbon utilization and energy production from a model syntroph. In the lab I characterize enzymes in immune pathways that generate specialized nucleotide signaling molecules. Basically, I grow protein crystals and shoot them with X-rays. Outside of the lab, you can find me working on random art or DIY projects, wandering around at estate sales, and bouldering at local climbing gyms.

Title: Graduate Student
Email: emednaco [at] uci.edu
About me: I am currently a PhD Student in PharmSci. During my undergrad at Cal Poly SLO I studied antibiotic biosynthesis by soil bacteria. I now investigate enzymes that generate cyclic nucleotide signals. Science is so exciting!! Outside of the lab I like to crochet…and crochet some more.

Ali Nabhani (he/him/his)
Title: Graduate Student
Email: nabhania [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a second year PhD student in the Morehouse Lab, prior to which I managed a lab at and graduated from Texas A&M University. Currently, I study the conservation and evolution of cyclic nucleotide signalling innate immune pathways across the tree of life. Outside of the lab, I spend a great deal of time catering to the needs of my unhinged pup, Edmond. I also enjoy time outdoors, photography, and competitive boxing (I hope to come out of a temporary retirement in the coming months!)

Madison Elliott (she/her/hers)
Title: Undergraduate, BioSci199
Email: madisoe1 [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a current 4th year Biology major with hopes of studying abroad in Europe after graduating. In the lab I investigate cyclic nucleotide receptors in bacterial immunity. Having grown up in Wrightwood, CA, I love skiing and hiking. I run cross country and track and genuinely enjoy running (yikes!). My free time is spent enjoying sunsets, roaming record stores, and hunting for good chai lattes.

Elena Ter-Petrosyan (she/her/hers)
Title: Undergraduate, BioSci199, Honors Program
Email: eterpetr [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a senior who transferred to UCI as a biological sciences major. I intend to specialize in microbiology and immunology with the goal of one day running my own research lab. I study the evolution of innate immune receptors. I am a nature lover by heart but my one true love is the sea! I love exploring tide pools near Newport Beach. Outside of academic responsibilities I usually spend my time drawing, cooking, or lost in a good book.

Jessica Tan (she/her/hers)
Title: Undergraduate, BioSci199
Email: jmtan3 [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a junior in the school of Biological Sciences. Entering UCI, I gained an interest in scientific research and theory especially after working in a medical office where I shadowed under a nephrologist who I still look up to, to this day. In the lab I study the evolution of cyclic nucleotide synthases. When I’m not busy stressing myself out, I love to draw/paint and play the piano. In fact, I am a piano teacher on the weekends for children! I have 4 soulmates: a small chihuahua-terrier dog, a rag doll, a Turkish Van (I think, he’s just all white), and a crazy British shorthair.

Anny Wang (she/her/hers)
Title: Undergraduate, BioSci199
Email: annyw1 [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a freshman at UCI studying Biological Sciences. I am originally from San Diego and have lived in SoCal my entire life. I’ve never not known nice weather. In my free time, I like to read manga, write, and watch anime. I’m a big fan of beef noodle soup and spicy cold skin noodles.

Emma Huang (she/her/hers)
Title: Undergraduate, BioSci199
Email: shiqinh1 [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a freshman at UCI majoring in Biological Science. Working in a science lab was my childhood dream. I am excited to learn more about science research, especially in microbiology, because I love the amazing microscopic world. I am working hard to turn my passion into my future career (my biggest life goal). Outside of academics, I am a photographer and I like to capture the world through my camera.

Daniel Izrailevsky (he/him/his)
Title: Undergraduate, BioSci199
Email: dizraile [at] uci.edu
About me: I am a junior at UCI in the school of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on the pre-med track. In the lab I study bacterial immune responses to phage infection. I have lived near the beach my whole life and try to go as often as possible. Otherwise, I spend my free time going to the gym, trying new recipes, and visiting new nature trails.

Milo Morehouse (he/him/his)
Title: Lab mascot
Email: Dogs can’t use email…
About me: I’m a real people person but I have a truly love/hate relationship with squirrels and rabbits. I work from home with occasional Zoom(ies) and visits to lab. I’m a big fan of cyclic nucleotides.
