Ryan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020 with his B.S. in Molecular Biology. He then began working in the lab of Dr. Milos Ikonomovic studying the pathobiology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and traumatic brain injury. Using multivariate modeling, Ryan investigated patterns of cholinergic activity and neuroinflammatory profiles associated with either cognitive resilience or vulnerability to AD pathology in a unique cohort of patients who exhibited high pathological burden but no cognitive impairments. Four years later, now in the Green Lab, Ryan continues studying AD, focusing on the influence of APOE genotype on the development of cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Outside of lab, he enjoys learning useless facts about trains, talking politics, eating sweet treats, and listening to podcasts.
